In the annals of sports history, there are few tales as inspiring as that of Hugh Freeze coaching from his hospital bed.

Freeze, who was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome in 2016, was forced to coach the Liberty Flames from his hospital bed via video link.

Despite the challenges, Freeze led the Flames to a 6-6 record in his first season.

In 2017, Freeze led the Flames to a 9-3 record and a berth in the Cure Bowl.

Freeze has since recovered from Guillain-Barré syndrome and is now coaching the Ole Miss Rebels.

But even he admits that he's amazed by how much college football has evolved in his time as a coach.

"The game has changed so much," Freeze said. "It's so much faster and more athletic than it used to be."

"But one thing that hasn't changed is the passion of the players and coaches," Freeze said. "That's what makes college football so special."
