Canal+ Managing Director Austria: "Just the Beginning in Austria"

PARIS / VIENNA (January 31, 2023) – Canal+ will be broadcasting the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League exclusively in Austria from this summer onwards. With the launch of its OTT platform Canal+ in the fourth quarter of 2022, the French media group has already entered the Austrian market and is continuing to expand its offering. "We are delighted to have won the exclusive rights to the UEFA club competitions in Austria," says David Lortholary, SVP Content & Distribution Canal+ International. "Our goal is to become the leading sports streaming provider in Austria and offer our customers the best possible sports content and viewing experience."

Long-term partnership with Austria's leading sports rights agency

Canal+ has secured the exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League in Austria for the next three seasons, from 2023/24 to 2025/26. The rights package includes all 138 matches in the UEFA Champions League, as well as all 141 matches in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League. Canal+ will broadcast the matches live and on-demand on its OTT platform. In addition, Canal+ will offer a variety of highlights, news, and analysis on its platform and social media channels.

Team of experts and innovative technology

To provide its customers with the best possible viewing experience, Canal+ has put together a team of experts to produce and present the UEFA club competitions in Austria. The team includes experienced commentators and analysts, as well as former players who will provide insights and analysis. Canal+ will also use innovative technology to enhance the viewing experience for its customers. This includes the use of augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as interactive graphics and statistics.
