Alexander Zverev wins Italian Open title for sixth Masters 1000 crown

German defeats Nicolas Jarry in straight sets to claim Rome Masters

Zverev takes home more than just a trophy from Rome

Alexander Zverev has claimed his sixth ATP Masters 1000 title after defeating Nicolas Jarry in straight sets in the final of the Italian Open in Rome. The German won 6-3, 6-4 to secure his first Masters title of the season and move up to third in the world rankings.

Zverev was in impressive form throughout the tournament, not dropping a set on his way to the final. He will now head to the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the year, as one of the favorites.

"I'm really happy to have won my first Masters title of the year," said Zverev. "I played some great tennis this week and I'm feeling confident heading into the French Open."

Jarry, who was playing in his first Masters final, pushed Zverev all the way in the second set. However, the German was too strong in the end and secured the victory in just over an hour.

"I'm disappointed to lose today, but I'm proud of the way I played," said Jarry. "I hope to be back in another Masters final soon."
